The ultimate summer checklist to boost weight loss

Trying to lose weight but not losing as much or as fast as you like?

When it comes to weight loss and dieting, we are made to believe it is just as simple as eating less and exercising more, when, in fact, it can much more complicated than that.

The body has so many things to focus on day to day just to keep you alive. When it comes to your body getting rid of stored fat, it’s pretty low on its list of priorities.

With the warmer months upon us, you want to look and feel your best, so here is a weight loss checklist to help you figure out how to turn up the heat and maximize your fat loss this summer

1: Are you following a solid plan?

This may seem like a simple question but it’s the most important. Being realistic in your approach rather than always going for the quick fix is key. Have a plan that fits your needs and one that you can and will stick with.

2: Are you creating the ideal environment for your body to focus on fat loss?

To help the body, you want to make sure you are maximizing everything you can do to keep it focused on fat loss. This means following your plan 100 per cent, day in and day out, for as long
as it takes.

3: Are your choices supporting your goals?

Those little cheats set you back. Everything you eat should make you feel good and be good for you, physically and mentally to help you reach your goal.

4: Are you managing your stress levels?

Stress plays a major role when it comes to trying to lose weight. Meditating, deep breathing, going for walks, getting more sleep and hanging with friends can be just what you need to get the scale moving.

5:Are you getting enough deep REM sleep?

Sleep is key for weight loss and not getting enough sleep can actually cause you to gain weight. Maximize REM sleep by tweaking your nighttime routine, eating earlier in the evening, turning your lights down low, taking a relaxing bath before bed and getting to bed earlier.

6:Are you drinking enough water?

Water is key for fat loss. Without enough water, your body can’t work at maximum levels. Don’t just drink a set amount each day; but adjust your intake according to your body’s needs. Add in more for exercise, if you’ve eaten salty food, if you’re taking medications or are in a dry environment and so on.

7: Are you exercising and moving your body?

Your body is meant to move but you don’t have to join a gym to be successful. Going for walks, taking the stairs and parking further away can add up to make a
big difference.

8: Are you taking supplements to help with any deficiencies and taking them consistently?

Supplements can make all the difference and help your body get what it needs, but you need to be consistent with them to make an impact.

9: Do you have issues with bowel movements?

Food goes in and it needs to go out. If you have issues with going to the bathroom, it can interfere with your body’s ability to focus on fat loss. Be sure you’re eating healthy, fibrous foods and drinking enough water.

10: Are you taking medications that impact your weight loss or do you have health issues that you need to factor in?

Sometimes we forget that our health issues may impact our body’s ability to focus on the things we want it to, like weight loss. Check your medications and side effects so you can be aware of them and address them where possible. Address any hormonal issues you might have as hormonal imbalance can impact your body’s ability to focus on fat loss. And get your blood work done. Why guess when you can check what’s going on in the body and discover whether there are any underlying issues affecting your ability to lose weight?

These are just some of the questions I ask people when they say things are not working. Everyone talks about what they are doing but they tend to leave out the things they are not doing. If your plan is solid but you are struggling and wondering if you are missing something, these questions will help you get to the bottom of it. And remember, sometimes you can be doing everything right and all your body needs is time. This checklist can help you be sure!
